Expansion of the Paper-EDI Standard to Include Transportation Data

Paper-EDI (PEDI) enables electronic data transmission via 2D barcodes on documents such as orders, confirmations, delivery notes, or shipping labels. IT managers particularly appreciate the efficiency of this solution in goods receiving: A single scan is all it takes to transfer the entire contents of a delivery note page into the ERP system—without any need for remote data transmission with the supplier.

In a collaboration between the Eurodata Council Institute e.V., the system integrator ELMICRON Dr. Harald Oehlmann GmbH, and the user PRITIDENTA GmbH, key shipping data was added to the data fields of the PEDI standard in accordance with ISO/IEC 15434. This includes, for example, the data field for the net weight of the shipping unit, which had not previously been included.

Through the active use of Paper-EDI, the standard is continuously being further developed and maintained. You can find more information here.
